Janet was born in Decatur IL at the then Decatur and Macon County Hospital, attended Garfield ES and Roosevelt JHS. She was in Girl Scout Troop #17 and also was a member of 4H.

She entered MHS in September 1957 when it opened and graduated in 1960 with the rest of our class.

She married classmate Jim Sober in 1961.

She worked for the Dairy Maid (now Krekels), Haines & Essick, Northwestern Bell, and The Norman Laundry and Drycleaning Co.

She is survived by husband, Jim, brother: Keith Lawrence; children, Scott Sober (Sarah), Debbie Sober, Jim Jr. Sober (Julie); grandchildren: Rachel (RJ Brucker); Megan (Gabe) Porter, Andy (Jessica) Johnson, Molly and Madilyn Golembeck, Tad (Sofia) Sober, Jack Sober; great-grandchildren: Bennett, Stella, Olive and Delilah
