John H. Snell, 75, of Decatur, IL passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 23,2016 at Christ Tabernacle Church. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. John will be laid to rest in Hall Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Christ Tabernacle Church.
John was born on June 9,1941 in Decatur, IL, the son of Paul and Selma (Rahn) Snell. After graduating from MacArthur High School, he worked various jobs before being drafted into the U.S. Army. After completion of his service, John was hired by Firestone Tire & Rubber Company where he was employed for over 30 years. He married Sandra Lee whom he later divorced. John later married Barbara Pistorius in 1982. 
John is survived by his wife: Barbara Snell of Decatur, IL; daughter: Michelle (Philip) Crawford of Forsyth, IL; stepsons: Daniel G. Pistorius of Blue Mound, IL and Eric C. Pistorius of Chicago, IL; grandson: Jonathan Crawford of Forsyth, IL; sister: Judy (Frans) Rynders of Blue Mound, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
